Transforming Afterschool in DC

At the downtown One World Academy, hosted at UNCF, middle school students from across the city come after school to eat dinner, connect with like-minded peers, and develop their writing, speaking, and presentation skills under the guidance of One World's Teacher Leaders.

In our Ward 8 Academies, One World brings afterschool writing programming to Ward 8 students where they need it the most—in their own neighborhood schools. One World’s experienced teachers lead Academies for Ward 8 students in two locations: at Friendship Southeast Middle School and at Statesmen College Preparatory Academy Public Charter School.

Your donation helps us continue to prepare middle schoolers for success in high school, college, and careers by teaching them the process and skills needed to research a complex topic, write a persuasive essay, and deliver an engaging presentation.

Your investment helps ensure that we will be able to expand our impact in communities that would benefit the most from access to high-quality, academic writing programming after school.

Thank you for helping our middle schoolers develop the skills they need to express themselves, reach their goals, and become leaders in their communities.
